In January this year, the LSSA was delighted to announce the launch of Legalbrief LSSA Weekly – a joint initiative between the LSSA and Juta Law. Every Friday attorneys and candidate attorneys receive a consolidation of the week’s main news stories, new legislation, key documents and noteworthy judgments in their e-mail inbox free of charge. The LSSA has expressed its thanks to Juta for agreeing to make this service available to practitioners on the LSSA’s national database for free.

Legalbrief LSSA Weekly becomes the third LSSA electronic communication initiative aimed at keeping attorneys and candidate attorneys up to date on developments in the profession, as well as on news, updates and training initiatives that have an impact on their practices.

The LSSA monthly e-newsletter contains updates on developments in the profession, LSSA activities and comments on legislation, as well as snap surveys on practitioners’ training and development requirements. Feedback from these snap surveys allows the LSSA to plan and implement initiatives tailored to the needs of practitioners. Recently, interest in a business rescue course was gauged using the online snap survey. The response allowed the LSSA to communicate directly with those who registered their interest in the course. More than 250 practitioners registered for the six-month business rescue certificate launched by the Legal Education and Development (LEAD) division and Unisa in January this year.
