LSSA to submit proposal amendments to the LPA

The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) has identified certain anomalies with the Legal Practice Act 28 of 2014, and it intends to submit a proposal for amendments. If you have any amendment suggestions and would like to have them included in the LSSA submission, please e-mail your comments to Kris Devan from the LSSA’s Professional Affairs Department at kris@LSSA.org.za by no later than 16 August.

Outstanding court orders

Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Pretoria, Dunstan Mlambo, has issued a notice regarding court orders (pertaining to court dates that will impact on attorneys and clients) from both High Courts of the Gauteng Division. In the notice, the Judge President provides e-mail addresses that legal practitioners may use if they have been awaiting court orders for more than four weeks. The notice states that the order will then be provided per e-mail within five court days of receipt of the request. Click here to read the notice.
