![]() Simmy Lebala, SC (1963 – 2020) Obituary The Lebala family regret to announce the death of advocate Simmy Lebala, SC on 15 August. At the time of his death Mr Lebala had an illustrious record of service to both the legal profession and community. Mr Lebala was a principled business leader, dedicated community builder, and a fierce campaigner for meaningful transformation of the legal profession. He was a legal writer who served on several boards including the Companies Tribunal, National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa, and North West Gambling Board where he was the Chairperson. Mr Lebala, SC held BJuris and LLB degrees from University of Zululand; LLM from Georgetown University; Diploma in Trial Advocacy from University of Colorado; and Certificate in Mediation. He was one of the founder members of the Advocates for Transformation (AFT) and served in the Pretoria Bar Council and its subcommittees. Mr Lebala, SC lectured at Vista University (Soweto) now University of Johannesburg in the mid 1990’s. |
