Employment Equity is a vital part of employment law and is complex with many barbs and pitfalls. In this book, the subject matter is communicated in a clear manner and the issues of unfair discrimination are dealt with concisely without sacrificing the nuances and complexity inherent to it. The authors highlight one of the fundamental purposes, namely, underlying equality and how to eliminate arbitrary decision-making in the workplace.
The authors’ knowledge of this subject matter is brought to the pages of this book in a way that makes it understandable to both the cursory reader and the person seeking a further understanding and guidance.
There are not many textbooks devoted solely to the issues of unfair discrimination. Most authors deal with the issue peripherally. This book deals solely with the subject and is very handy. All aspects of unfair discrimination are covered in a balanced fashion and the subject matter is covered adequately. The book is structured in such a way that it incorporates case law, conventions, codes of good practice and commonly encountered problems to support discussions. The authors approach unfair discrimination from a descriptive point of view, which makes the subject easier to understand and uncomplicates the principles for its ease of application in practice.
The readability in terms of sequence and flow of the book, the consistency of the language and the use of key terms makes it easy to assist readers.
This book should be on the shelves of all persons that appear in the Commission for
Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration and any other employment forums.
